  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • ¼ cup chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, then beat in the eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk, stirring until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. For the frosting, beat cream cheese and vanilla until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar.
  7. Once the cake cools, spread the frosting on top and garnish with chocolate shavings.
